ACADEMY SPONSORSHIP - DEPUTY SHERIFF RECRUIT

STARTING PAY RATE: $24.04/HR ($50,003.20 ANNUALLY)
JOB TYPE: Deputy Sheriff Recruit
General Description: CCSO is looking for strong candidates with an excellent work history who aspire to become a deputy sheriff with the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office. Candidates are encouraged to apply for a limited number of paid sponsorships to the law enforcement academy at Withlacoochee Technical College (WTC). Successful candidates will be under contract with CCSO for a total of three years from their hire date.
ESSENTIAL EXPECTATIONS:
- To pass the Criminal Justice Basic Abilities Test (CJBAT) prior to the start of the academy
- To pass WTC’s Academy program
- To pass the Florida State Officer Certification Exam
- To perform various administrative duties, training exercises and observation events when not engaged in academy courses
- Regular, dependable, prepared, and punctual attendance required
- To be appropriately dressed and groomed
- Acts in a professional manner demonstrating helpful and courteous behavior
- Be available to immediately start, complete, and successfully pass all portions of our agency background process prior to the start of the academy as describe below under the selection process
- Commute to and from the academy daily according to the class schedule
- All CCSO employees are considered “essential emergency workers” and are subject to working in any capacity/hours deemed necessary by the Agency during activations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 19 years of age at the completion of the academy
- Must have the legal right to work in the United States
- Must have a valid Class E Florida Driver’s License
- Must have a High School diploma or GED
- Must not have been convicted of a felony
- Must not have used, tried, tasted, experimented or possessed any illegal controlled substances in the last 12 months OR Schedule I or II substance within the last five years at the time of the application
SELECTION PROCESS INCLUDES:
- On-line application
- TABE Competency Test
- Physical Abilities Test (PAT)
- Agency Ride Along
- Oral Board Review interview
- Background Investigation and Employment Checks
- Truth Verification Exam (CVSA)
- FDLE Medical exam and drug screen
- Psychological assessment
