JOB TITLE: Receptionist
PAY GRADE: 105
PAY RANGE: $16.48/hour - $21.59/hour; $34,278.40 - $44,907.20 annualized
JOB TYPE: Part-time, 22.5 hours/week, Monday – Friday
JOB LOCATION: Rotates between Administration Office (OPS) and Emergency Operations Center (EOC)

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE: The Part-Time Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for the Sheriff’s Office, providing front-line administrative support and ensuring effective communication within the agency and with the public. This position is responsible for receiving and routing telephone calls, greeting and assisting visitors, managing clerical tasks, and keeping staff informed of important events and issues.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receives, routes, and disperses incoming telephone calls and emails to appropriate personnel or departments in a professional and courteous manner.
- Greets and assists visitors to the agency, ensuring proper sign-in procedures and directing them to the appropriate staff or area.
- Sorts and distributes incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
- Assists with applicant reference checks.
- Enters and updates employee information in personnel database systems; scans and maintains personnel documents in both digital and physical formats.
- Informs supervisors and staff of scheduled events, office activities, and critical issues that may affect operations or require attention
- All CCSO employees are considered ‘essential emergency workers’ and are subject to working in any capacity/hours deemed necessary by the Agency during activations, including but not limited to, in-County and out-of-County deployments.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational, time management, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple phones lines.
- Working knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and various software programs.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalency exam.
- One year of experience working with the public.
- Knowledge of Citrus County geography and familiarity with Citrus County government functions, preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work within an office environment.
- Prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting and turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily activities.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
- Grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard.
- May require driving occasionally.
- Travel between facilities, for agency events, or for county-wide coverage required. Occasional out-of-county travel required.
- Must have the legal right to work in the United States
- Valid Florida Driver's license required

An oral board with job-related questions and/or scenarios will be administered on a date specifically set with all potential candidates notified at least three days in advance of the specified date. The oral board passing score will be 80% or higher. All employees/members will compete against one another for one position and the final selection to fill this slot will be made by the Sheriff. The Sheriff reserves the right to make selections from internal or external sources.
