JOB TITLE:               Intelligence Analysis Unit – Supervisor

PAY GRADE:            116E

SALARY RANGE:     $65,270.40 – $88,150.40 annually (based on qualifications and experience)

JOB TYPE:                Regular, full-time position, working Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Requires flexibility for shift work, on-call status, and availability during critical incidents, emergencies, weekends, and holidays.

JOB LOCATION:       Emergency Operations Center (EOC)

REPORTS TO:          Criminal Investigations Lieutenant

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
 The Intelligence Analysis Unit Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and performance of analysts assigned to the Intelligence Analysis Unit. This position ensures timely collection, analysis, and dissemination of intelligence to support investigations, field operations, and public safety initiatives. The supervisor will coordinate with sworn personnel, other agency divisions, and external partners to enhance situational awareness and operational effectiveness.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides overall direction to the unit by prioritizing and assigning work, training, mentoring staff, and developing functional intelligence analysis to meet agency needs.
  • Participating in presentations, meetings and working groups as an expert criminal intelligence resource, and contributing to the development of new analytical methods and approaches
  • Oversees intake, analysis, and distribution of intelligence data, including criminal associations, investigative leads, and statistical analysis.
  • Develops and implements Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for intelligence functions.
  • Coordinates with internal and external agencies to align intelligence support with operational priorities.
  • Prepares and reviews analytical reports, recommendations, and presentations.
  • Maintains proficiency in intelligence-related technologies, software platforms, and data systems.
  • Supports special events, critical incidents, and emergency operations with real-time intelligence coordination.
  • Conducts training and professional development for staff.
  • All CCSO employees are considered essential emergency workers and are subject to working in any capacity/hours deemed necessary by the Agency during activations, including but not limited to, in-County and out-of-County deployments.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of tactical, strategic, and criminal intelligence analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data visualization tools.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to lead and mentor staff effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and recommend improvements in procedures based on data analysis.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Intelligence Studies, or related field from an accredited college or university required.
  • Experience in law enforcement, criminal investigation, or intelligence analysis preferred.
  • Graduate degree or specialized certifications (e.g., FDLE Law Enforcement Analyst Training Program) preferred.
  • Experience with intelligence systems such as LINX, DAVID, VICAP, TLO and GIS tools preferred.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, medical exam, and drug/alcohol screening.
  • Supervisory experience in Intelligence Analysis or a related field preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Meet the physical examination requirements in accordance with G.O. 212.00.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License
  • If a current CCSO employee, then no disciplinary actions within the last 12 months and completion of current position time commitment requirement.

An oral board with job-related questions and/or scenarios will be administered on a date specifically set with all potential candidates notified at least three days in advance of the specified date. The oral board passing score will be 80% or higher. All candidates/employees will compete against one another for one position and the final selection to fill this slot will be made by the Sheriff. The Sheriff reserves the right to make selections from internal or external sources.
