Part Time Public Service Officer
Citrus County Sheriff's Office

Pay Rate:  $16.30/hour

General Description: Part-time position working within the city limits of Inverness. Schedule primarily consists of day shifts, Monday - Friday, alternating weeks for a total of 40 hours bi-weekly. Schedule will be adjusted to assist in city related events occurring at night and some holidays. Duties include handling calls for service, investigating traffic crashes, parking enforcement, and crossing guard duties. 

Essential Functions:

• Conducts parking enforcement
• Investigates traffic crashes and directs traffic around crashes, congested areas, and hazards
• Testifies at trials, hearings, and depositions
• All Citrus County Sheriff's Office employees are considered 'essential emergency workers' and are subject to working in any capacity/hours deemed necessary by the Agency during activations, including but not limited to, in-County and out-of-County deployments

Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to use a 2-way radio
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow procedural and policy manuals
• Working knowledge of computer software programs and Microsoft Office

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Applicants must successfully complete the Public Service Officer training program and an approved traffic crash investigation course

Physical Demands:

• Requires long periods of sitting, standing, walking, speaking, reaching, twisting, and turning daily
• Hearing acuity
• Near and far vision

Requirements:

• Must have the legal right to work in the United States
• Valid Florida Driver's License
