Pay Rate: $27.94/hour

 

General Description: The Senior Accountant position performs a variety of complex tasks in the Financial Services Division.  Under the general direction of the Financial Services Director and/or Supervisor, this is a high level, technical and professional position with responsibilities related to the overall administration of the financial accounting and reporting functions of the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares accounting entries for the general ledger
  • Prepares and provides support for auditors during the annual audit
  • Assists with developing and monitoring the Agency personnel and the operating budget
  • Reviews accounting staff work
  • Provides management analysis and technical assistance to the Financial Services Director
  • Prepares, trains, and/or presents information for internal and public speaking engagements
  • Processes budget transfers and budget amendments
  • Extracts and analyzes data for reporting purposes
  • Acts as liaison with all Agency divisions for budget assistance, purchase order review, and training.
  • All Citrus County Sheriff’s Office employees are considered ‘essential workers’ and are subject to working in any capacity/hours deemed necessary by the Agency during activations, including but not limited to, in-County and out-of-County deployments.

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of financial management and budgeting
  • Strong ability to organize workload when faced with competing priorities and to complete work assignments on a timely basis
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work product
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to think, act quickly and calmly and appropriate in emergencies
  • Ability to problem solve efficiently within time sensitive deadlines
  • Demonstrated skill in providing a high level of service to, and effective relationship-building with multiple internal and external constituencies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. Proficiency in use of common desktop/web applications
  • Proficiency with accounting/financial software, spreadsheets and data management systems required

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3 years working experience in financial accounting or related field preferred OR
  • Associate’s degree with 5 years working experience in financial accounting or related field required.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to drive agency or own motor vehicle as needed
  • Repetitive hand movement using a computer keyboard
  • Acute hearing, near and far vision required

Requirements: 

  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States
  • Valid Florida Driver's License required
