PAY RATE:                $20.91/hour

General Description:  The Human Resources Associate/HR Operations is responsible for obtaining and recording HR confidential information, records, transactions, and systems. Updating the performance management database, coordinating awards & events, and employee recognition. This job requires working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with a heavy workload. Strong organizational skills are necessary to manage complex tasks. Attention to detail and the ability to quickly remember and process large amounts of information are essential. Effective time management and multitasking abilities are crucial to handle the diverse responsibilities of this position. This role requires an emphasis on meticulous data integrity. As a member of the HR Operations team, incumbents provide coverage and support as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains the performance evaluation system, including monitoring due dates of employee performance evaluations. and updating job task analysis.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date personnel records using a variety of systems including databases, spreadsheets, electronic files, hard-copy records, and documentation. Maintains employee confidentiality of records.
  • Processes and manages agency and citizen awards recognition, including but not limited to, pins and badges, years of service, and military.
  • Plans and coordinates employee recognition events such as Awards Ceremonies, Employee Appreciation Days, retirement celebrations, and other events.
  • Prepares written commendations for employees and community members, requiring a high level of English, grammar, and creative writing.
  • Monitors and ensures the agency's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and best practices. 
  • Responds to HR-related queries, records, and requests for information, which includes extracting data using a report-writer system and various other data sources.
  • Scans personnel documents, and redacts personnel files in accordance with Florida Statute and HIPAA regulations. 
  • Maintains a customer-centric relationship with all members of the Sheriff's Office and with the citizens of Citrus County.
  • Completes and performs assignments and duties as directed within a specified time frame.
  • All CCSO employees are considered ‘essential emergency workers’ and are subject to working in any capacity/hours deemed necessary by the Agency during activations, including but not limited to, in-County and out-of-County deployments.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to express ideas and effectively communicate information. Ability to write and present professional documents.
  • Strong working knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and various office software programs and equipment. Prefer experience in HR systems and report-writer software.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Time management skills to organize, prioritize, and manage daily work activities, and special assignments.
  • Problem solving skills, ability to look beyond surface issues, identifying and analyzing problems, and assisting personnel accordingly.
  • Knowledge of personnel and administrative law and ability to qualify decisions /recommendations and follow procedure based on current legal statute guidelines.
  • Team building skills to achieve and contribute to department and organization goals.
  • Proficiency in keyboarding is equivalent to 45 wpm.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree + 2 years HR/related experience; OR
    High School Diploma + 4 years HR/related experience

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting and turning, kneeling, bending squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard.
  • Hearing acuity; near and far vision required. 
  • May require driving occasionally
  • Travel between facilities, for agency events, or for county-wide coverage required. Occasional out-of-county travel required. 

Additional Requirements: The candidate will be required to perform a written task at the time of the interview.
