Starting Pay Rate:  $21.51/HR

General Description: An intelligence analyst is responsible for monitoring, preparing, developing, and mitigating data and intelligence products for immediate and long-term use throughout the Sheriff’s Office. This position is a regular, full-time (40 hours) position working day shift, Monday through Friday, and as otherwise required, based upon the agency’s needs. Required to work during any natural or man-made disaster and/or special event requiring activation of the Real Time Operations Center.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs Real-Time Operations/functions to include: monitoring Law radio to provide real-time information and investigative support to law enforcement personnel in the field; performing analyst functions during calls to provide Real-Time intelligence; monitoring CAD screens, critical incidents, video feeds, and various requests
  • Assists law enforcement members with monitoring LPRs (License Plate Readers) and entering “Hot Plates” for license plates/vehicles of interest
  • Assists deputies and detectives with research and criminal histories for investigations
  • Assists with preparing and attending weekly COAR meetings
  • Collects and organizes information from all available resources, including daily calls for service, field interview reports (FIR), arrest reports, intelligence sources, and other agency reports and bulletins in order to study and analyze any emerging crime, trends, and patterns
  • Prepares and disseminates strategic and tactical reports, spreadsheets, charts, and maps from analysis findings in the form of bulletins, memos, alerts, maps, etc.
  • Identifies potential persons of interest using various Intelligence resource methods
  • All Citrus County Sheriff’s Office employees are considered ‘essential workers’ and are subject to working in any capacity/hours deemed necessary by the Agency during activations, including but not limited to, in-County and out-of-County deployments

Additional Functions may include:

  • Monitors pawn transaction activity through the pawn database and other systems, and utilizes offense reports to potentially match stolen property to pawned property
  • Provides analytical support with Domestic Security and Gang Intelligence
  • Tracks and analyzes non-fatal overdoses and maintains information for reporting and tracking
  • Monitors legal updates for sexual offenders and predators, tracks their activity, and disseminates information and notifications accordingly
  • Retrieves, views, and disseminates Crime Stoppers tips, and attends Crime Stoppers meetings and functions
  • Analyzes traffic crash data to develop usable intelligence products

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written expression and comprehension communication skills, problem-solving ability, analytical thinking ability, and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential intelligence with tact, professionalism and diplomacy. Ability to use open and confidential sources for investigative research
  • Must possess a high degree of confidentiality

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong ability to multitask in a Real-Time Operations environment
  • Proficient with internet navigation and investigative databases
  • Must have mid-level computer skills to include work processing/formatting, database entry and retrieval, spreadsheet applications (MS suite), Apple iOS, and conduct internet/website research and navigate multiple systems and sites
  • Efficient time management skills

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, criminology, business administration, public administration, or related field; OR
  • Associate’s degree (AA or AS) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school AND three years of related experience (includes intelligence gathering and analysis); OR
  • Minimum five years’ experience working directly as an Intel or Crime Analyst in a law enforcement environment
  • Graduate of a recognized Intelligence Academy preferred (Florida Sheriff’s Association (FSA), Florida Department of Law Enforcement, (FDLE), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), etc.)
  • Experience navigating through various law enforcement specific computer programs and technology preferred
  • Experience using Law Enforcement CAD or Records Management Systems preferred

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently requires standing, sitting, walking, bending
  • Frequently requires talking, hearing, and seeing near and far
  • Frequently requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine motor skills, ie: preparing reports using a computer keyboard
  • Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading

Requirements:

  • Applicant once selected, will be required to attend the FDLE Analyst Academy and prerequisite courses within a reasonable time frame, if not already certified
  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States
  • Valid Florida Driver's license required
